Two-dimensional digital image correlation allows the measurement of full-field, in-plane displacements. The method is easy to use, accurate and fast. It requires only one camera to acquire the images and a computer to run the analysis. Vic-2D 2009 uses developers optimized correlation algorithms to provide full-field displacement and strain data for mechanical testing on planar specimens. Actual, in-plane movement can determined for every point within the measurement area, as well as the Lagrangian strain tensor.
